The 2015 champions prevail in the final to claim back National glory
Rostocker Robben lifted the German National Championship title once again, after upsetting defending champions BSC Ibbenbüren in the penalty kick shootout of the final, and claimed back the crown they lost in 2016.
In a reedition of the 2015 final, a goal with just three seconds to go sent the game into extra time, when Ibbenbüren seemed to be extending their reign. That hit by Torsten Dahnke allowed Rostocker to keep fighting for silverware, and the great performance of their goalkeeper Robin Schröder in the shootout ended up being key for them to become the German champions again.
In the game for the third place of the championship, Herta BSC secured the bronze medal following a stout 5-1 win over Wuppertaler SV, in a game which had to be interrupted for 25 minutes due to an intense storm.
