Big things happened in this second stage of the Round of 16 that has defined the quarterfinalists of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier, the most outstanding being, maybe, Italy’s falling to Poland in a match they were 3-0 up in the score. The rest of the favourites have given no chance to their opponents, specially a Russian National Team that is dangerously getting used to scoring 11 goals in their overwhelming victories.
Let’s follow Madjer, he knows the way
Portugal keep strong on their way to next rounds of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier, as clearly proved in their match against Azerbaijan. Having Madjer by your side gives you a lot of confidence, and if you surround him with other players such as Belchior, Birlo, Alan and so on you get a really really competitive squad. The Azeri have had first-hand experience of this potential, and the World Cup path has ended for them today.
As expected, Portugal took the game control from the beginning, aiming at Azerbaijan’s goal. It was not long afterwards that Madjer made use of the magic he keeps inside for a stunning 30 meter-far volley remotely directed to the Azeri’s goalmouth. But the Portuguese captain did not stop there, and turned the score into 3-0 with two other goals. It was just the beginning of the second period, and Dzhabarov’s team had things already really hard. They would not give up without fighting, though, as Baghirov stated a couple of minutes afterwards.
But the Portuguese were not to risk a bit their road to World Cup, and Belchior and Jordan almost finished the game before the end of the second time.
Huseynov’s hit with only 5 minutes to go was somehow the Azeri death throe, realizing yet at that point that the Portuguese were too big a prey for them to hunt. At least this time.
Russian Goal Feast over Turkey
Russian soldiers marched again over Bibione’s sand, to destroy the Turkish resistance by goals and offensive power. The Ottoman have become the new victim of the Russian steamroller, which have shown no mercy for their opponents. When The Russian squad works out, they become almost invincible, and this is the message they send to all contenders they may face from now on, with tomorrow’s quarterfinals stage as the first instance.
The worst news for all those teams who are not Russia, though, is that it cannot be said that Turkey’s game was awful, but the Ottoman made many good things. So you need to perform almost perfectly to disarm the soviets. The goal feast began for Russia already in the first period. Krasheninnikov and Eremeeve scored their first goals of the afternoon to make the score 2-0. Tamer managed to diminish this gap, but the 2-1 on the score was only a mirage, since only 4 seconds later, captain Leonov put his side on the run again.
And how they did! The troops kept aiming at the Turkish goal uninterruptedly until the score at the second break registered an outrageous 10-1. Ohur’s last attempt to disguise such a heavy defeat was finally replied by hat-trick scorer Eremeev to leave the score into a shocking 11-2.
Amazing Polish come-back sidelines Italy
Italy have been left out of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier they are hosting after an incredible comeback by Poland, who were 3-0 down on the score with only 7 minutes to go. Notwithstanding, the Transalpine have their place in World Cup granted as hosts of next summer’s Worldwide date.
Italy headed for the match dominion from the beginning. Their devoted fans packed the stands again, and they deserved the best. Corosiniti lighted the way, and Carotenuto’s brilliant move and Di Maio, with a flashing dive header made it a comfortable 3-0 for the Azzurri. Italy was clearly on command, but the Polish never lost track of the match. The showdown was also played at the stands, where the fans fought to see which one the loudest crowd, thanks to the presence of many Polish supporters.
But the unimaginable happened. Saganovski and Waleszczyk made worst fears fly over the Stadium next to Bibione’s Piazzale Zenith. In the last two minutes, the Italian nightmare came true, seeing how a wonderful bicycle kick by Saganovski raised the 3-3 on the scoreboard. The time was not over yet, and it was room for everything to happen. But it were the Polish the ones on fire, and took the best of advantages of the situation to make the qualifying theirs with a header by Ziober. Poland heads then for the next round with the unquestionable honour of having been knocked the host National Side Italia.
Fast route ticket to quarterfinals for Spain
Spain has gained their ball in the pot through a solid victory over Moldova. Spaniards have not suffered at any of the stages of the match against blunt Moldova, who never found the track to Spanish goal. Long range attempts were not dangerous enough to disturb La Roja peace.
Joaquin’s lads did not open the score until nearly the end of first period, thanks to a good move by Kuman. First period, though did not offer more goals, being the contenders somehow saving the energy for the decisive stages of the game, which were to be the second twelve minutes.
Spain slightly stepped on the accelerator to get two more goals in the first 4 minutes of the second period. Juanma fought a ball hard to avoid Moldovan defenders and beat the keeper in the second minute and Pajón made it 0-3 little afterwards. Coceban fruitlessly shortened the distance for his squad, but Kuman and Juanma would have seconds for the final 1-5 before the break horn. Unless there was a period left. Spaniards had ended the game, and Moldavan players fielded this feeling themselves.
