The Guaraní side bent Brazil in the decider to clinch the first ever South American Women’s crown
Hosts Paraguay upset Brazil in the last game to claim the first ever CONMEBOL Women’s Liga Evolución de Fútbol Playa.
The Guaraní side stayed perfect all the competition and did not let the Verdeamarela bag the honour. Damia Cortazar, with a brace, and Griselda Garay were in hand for the hosts to run past the World Beach Games bronze medalists and land their first international crown in front of their own crowd.
Barbara Colodetti narrowed the distance for Brazil, but Paraguay were feeling strong and would not let their opponents go any further than that.
In the fight for the third place, Argentina bent Chile with the same result (3-1), and took home the bronze medal in this first ever South American Women’s Beach Soccer competition.
