December’s Movers of the Month – Senegal!

Senegal climb into the top ten to claim 2018’s last Movers of the Month title with triumph on the African continent

After retaining the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations by beating rivals Nigeria in the final, the Lions of Senegal have jumped four places in the World Ranking to reach the number ten spot.

Their success in Sharm El Sheikh saw them qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2019 in Paraguay, alongside fellow finalists, Nigeria, who climb eight places in the World Ranking, ending 2018 in 16th place.

As the only major beach soccer event in December was the Africa Cup of Nations, most of the ascenders were from the African continent, with hosts Egypt moving up to 12th, Morocco making the 19th spot by moving up seven places and Madagascar moving into 35th position.

Towards the lower end of the table, Tanzania performed well in their maiden campaign, leaping an impressive 21 places into 58th!

Other than Senegal knocking Japan off the tenth spot, the top ten remained unchanged as Brazil still lead the charge, despite Iran closing the gap with last month’s success in the Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup in Dubai.

Behind them Portugal sit in third, with Russia in fourth and Italy remaining in fifth.
