New Overall World Rankings are out

The latest month, events, and updates in the beach soccer rankings are now reflected in the points and ready to view

All of the beach soccer that has been enjoyed and taken place since September 2011 until this very moment has been updated in the Overall World Rankings. The list, as always, is comprised of the 104 participating beach soccer nations and their score is tallied by a numerical system involving exhibition matches, tournaments played, tournaments hosted, and tournaments won, among other factors. The ranking is updated every month and takes into account the past four years of beach soccer, however, the more recent years are weighted heavier, so for example, despite Brazil owning the most FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup titles, it is Russia in first, having won in 2011 and 2013 before being dethroned this year by, understandably, the 2nd best team in the current rankings, Portugal.

The Overall Rankings have the names that everyone knows, and the Top-10 order is as follows: Russia, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Tahiti, Switzerland, Iran, Mexico, Spain, and Paraguay. The Russians have dominated in recent memory but the Portuguese are always a formidable opponent and taking first in the World Cup showed their talent, while Brazil is still constantly considered a favourite to win nearly every event they participate in, and they oftentimes do win. Italy had a very strong season, particularly after their Silver Medal finish in the European Olympic Games Baku 2015, and that helped place them in fourth.

The calendar year is far from over and there will be plenty more events, including the Mediterranean Beach Games Pescara 2015, the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2015, and BSWW Tour events, just to name a few, which will all heavily affect the rankings in the coming months. Beachsoccer.com will have all the updates and changes for you as they happen. The current rankings can be found in their entirely here: Overall World Rankings
