Stroke of genius by Van Geldermalsen puts Holland into the final

Van Geldermalsen gave the Netherlands the ticket to the final with one of those last breath goals every player dreams of. With only 10 seconds for the final whistle, the Dutch forward saw the ball fly from his own goalkeeper and invented an amazing bicycle kick for his team’s winner.

The match had also been brilliant so far. Both England and hosts Netherlands had offered a wonderful clash between two determined sides, fully concentrated, which fought for every single centimeter of the pitch. Besides, the noisy crowd was amazing, bringing the best atmosphere to surround the spectacle on the field to make the whole thing the best match we have enjoyed in The Hague so far.

England hit first, with the first of Blake’s double today, but Dutch hero Van Geldermalsen achieved the equalizer a couple of minutes afterwards. The score did not move again until the second period, in which the squads exchanged their previous roles. Now, it was the Orange the ones to get ahead, forcing the English for an extra effort to neutralize the advantage.

Black managed the 3-2 for England in the beginning of the third period, beating Ran with a well-aimed low shot, and that put Netherlands into a really uncomfortable position. Fortunately for them, a penalty kick by Koswal mended things back just one minute afterwards. Although the crowd pushed and pushed, the Orange were not able to find the way to Webb’s net, and their chances to go for the Cup in their own sand were getting harder. The English side, moreover, was eager to find their moment for counterattack and finish the game.

But with the time almost over and sight put on the extra time, Van Geldermalsen brought all his magic out to snatch the victory for the Orange with an unbelievable volley, impossible for the English goalie, that made the numerous Dutch crowd come crazy. Tomorrow, Netherlands will have the chance to lift this Crocs Challenge Cup 2010 in their own stadium (15:15).
