Meier says farewell to Swiss National Team

Capped 295 times with the National Side, he has always been admired for his huge passion and commitment on the sand

After 295 matches with the red jersey, Swiss Team legend Stephan Meier decided to put his International career to an end. The Brazilian-origin Alpine dynamo decided to retire from the National Team, but will keep playing beach soccer at top level in the National competitions, as well as he will keep working tirelessly in the beach soccer grassroots in the country.

34 years old now, Stephan Meier has always been admired for his huge passion and commitment on the field, which has helped Switzerland to great victories, including an outstanding performance in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009 and the Euro Beach Soccer League 2012, where the Swiss side was crowned European Champions.

Meier had the opportunity to say goodbye to the Swiss fans this weekend in Spiez, in the framework of the International friendly facing Switzerland and England. The Alpine showed a great prowess in the fixture against the Three Lions, and earned a convincing 8-3 win.
