Madjer Cup is underway

First day of the competition saw wins for the titleholders in the U16 and U18 categories while ACD “O Sótão” took the first Madjer Beach Soccer Women’s Cup

The Madjer Cup kicked-off yesterday at the Praia de Buarcos in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

Last year’s champions Lazio began their U18 campaign with a win against GD Alfarim, who would draw their second match against EF Hugo Almeida.

AD Buarcos also played two games yesterday securing a place in the next round after beating English side Isle of Wight and GD Ilha.

German visitors Rostocker Robben packed a solid win against Praia da Leirosa, who also lost against “O Sótão”.

In Group F, Naval lost against Sesimbra but took their revenge by winning against Chaves.

In the U16 category, titleholders ACD “O Sótão” started off on the right foot beating GD Ilha, in a day that also saw wins for Naval, Alfarim and AR Amarelle.

In the first ever edition of the Madjer Cup Women’s trophy, Portuguese champions “O Sótão” celebrated a 5-4 win against Sandgames Figueira to lift the trophy.
