Eight teams take part in the competition, held in Saint Petersburg
The InterCup Saint Petersburg 2018 kicked off yesterday at the Dinamit Indoor Arena (BSC Kristall Indoor training ground) with four matches that left the Russian National U23 side and BSC Krylia Sovetov on top of the groups.
The competition is divided in two groups of four teams, with the Russia National U23 Side, BSC Kristall, BSC Delta and the Turkish National side in group 1, and BSC Krylia Sovetov, the Belarus NAtional Side, BSC City and BSC CSKA Moscow in group B.
A tight win had Russia U23 (5-6 over BSC Delta) on top of group A, together with hosts BSC Kristall, who bent the Turkish National side (2-1) in the opening game.
In group B, BSC Krylia Sovetov flew past BSC CSKA Moscow to secure the highest place in the table, followed by Belarus, who edged BSC City at the last game of the day.
The competition, sanctioned by BSWW, stands as a very important step for Russian teams (and some other sides from around the region) to speed up their preparation and tune up ahead of the coming season, with the national championships and National Team competitions just weeks away.
Between Wednesday 18th of April and Sunday 22nd, these eight sides will be battling in the Saint Petersburg Dinamit Indoor Arena in a high-octane beach soccer competition.
