The meeting, taking place 22nd-23rd of November in Dubai, analyses key points in the development of the sport, including the new rules
The second edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer Workshop kicked-off this Friday, 22nd of November, in Dubai. Consisting on two days, the symposium is set to analyze all key sports in the present and future of beach soccer. With a representation of more than 100 National Federations and all different Confederations, as well as FIFA, of Course, the meeting is set to tackle very important points in beach soccer, including the new rules being tested in the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2013.
Besides the rules of the game, other aspects such as the player’s database, a competition statistical analysis on the evolution of the sport, media issues, TV projection, legal aspects, case studies, etc. The II FIFA Beach Soccer counted on the participation of beach soccer experts such as Madjer, Ramiro Amarelle or current adidas Silver Ball award winner Osmar Moreira, FIFA Referees, FIFA instructors and coaches.
Joan Cusco, FIFA Beach Soccer General Manager and FIFA Beach Soccer Committee Member opened the session, highlighting how inportant is for the growth of the sport to keep an active study and reflection on what is Beach Soccer is doing, and what are the necessary steps to take in order to foster its constant growth.
After him, Joana Soares, Head of the Legal Department of Beach Soccer Worldwide introduced the Player’s database, a program intended to register all players taking part in official and non-official competitions, and what are its affectations for future events.
Following Soares’ Josep Ponset, Head of Competitions in Beach Soccer Worldwide, have presented one of the big upcoming novelties: The World Ranking. The World ranking which will include all teams in all confederations, and will take into account all official, BSWW and FIFA sanctioned competitions will be published at beachsoccer.com end 2013. It will have a double basis: a 2013 ranking and an Overall ranking, taking in consideration all results as of 2005.
After that, Jaime Yarza, FIFA’s Senior Manager of Futsal and Beach Soccer Competitions, and Jesús Rubio, FIFA Referee coordinator, explained the proposed changes in the laws of the game, which are being tested in the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2013. This first session of the FIFA Beach Soccer Workshop was concluded by the CONCACAF General Secretary, Enrique Sanz, who stressed the interest CONCACAF has in Beach Soccer, reckoning its unique assets: “Beach Soccer is a young sport, with big passion and a large potential. It can give different things of what traditional football does, and we really admire the possibilities it offers in the development of sportsmen”, he insisted.
The FIFA Beach Soccer Workshop will resume tomorrow, with the participation of a representation of almost all National Associations involved in Beach Soccer.
