Barcelona/São Paulo, April 1st, 2011 – As expected, the I Mundialito de Clubes achieved a great social and media impact all over the world. The tournament, held in La Represa de Guarapiranga (São Paulo) from March 19th to 26th, was a new confirmation of the unstoppable growth of Beach Soccer, which, getting the biggest football clubs onboard opens wide to a whole new world for the sport. Beach Soccer fans, onsite and abroad, responded to the call in this key moment and turned this first edition of the Mundialito de Clubes into an unforgettable memory.
The romance between Beach Soccer and TV was further reinforced in São Paulo, too. The excellent High-Definition coverage took the matches to the screens of millions and millions of households in 165 countries in the five continents. During the eight days of competition, more than 40 beach soccer hours were watched live in more than 75 territories, thanks to the agreements reached with up to 25 broadcasters, including international giants such as Fox Sports, Al Jazeera, Supersport, ESPN Star Sports or Globo, among others.
Besides, the heat and the atmosphere experienced in the stadium set at the Praia da Sol is something players, coaches, delegates, organizers and fans will never forget either. The 106.000 people coming to the stands during the whole competition were the main responsible for the amazingly loud and colourful environment raised during the tournament. The excellent feelings in everyone taking part of the party leave no doubt: Mundialito de Clubes is here to stay.
