Hungary unveils plans to foster expansion

The European side has been seeing their investment in beach soccer pay off as 2016 set for biggest season yet

Beach soccer has been making strides every single year and one team that has been putting thorough efforts on the sand has been Hungary, specifically in the last years. The Magyar side stresses the development of beach soccer youth and in 2014 the strategy propelled them from Division B into the top European level, A, and subsequently into the European Games Baku 2015. The Olympic event helped to usher in beach soccer into an even higher echelon, and Hungary, along with 7 other sides from The Old Continent, Azerbaijan as hosts, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, and Ukraine. To go along with the Azerbaijani, the sides had to qualify in the Euro Beach Soccer League, first as the top-six in Division A, and then Hungary won the Promotion Final, conquering Division B.

2016 is a big year for the sport as there the regional qualifiers for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 will start and the lead-up to the biggest event for the sport will be crucial to every nations’ development. Hungary will be focusing on the Euro Beach Soccer League, in which they will be hosting an event, with hopes of reaching Division A again, by first qualifying for the Promotion Final and then winning the finale against either another Division B side or the lowest ranked side during the season from Division A, which has been the case for two of the past three finals. 

 

A common place for beach soccer has become Siofok and the MLSZ Arena in the city, which has hosted past events and will continue to host first time events this, such as U-15, U-17, U-19, and U-20 division championships within the Hungarian National League. The development of the youth has helped to propel The Golden Team into the top–20 in the BSWW Overall World Ranking presented by Power Horse. In 2015 Hungary also rose to 7th among all European sides and with emphasis still being placed on the growth of the sport all over the globe, it will be another exciting year for every participating country.
