Four European beach soccer teams came together in Germany to prepare for the start of the European season
In the build-up to the return of the European beach soccer season, several teams across the continent have been really committed to preparing themselves for being back on the sand.
Last weekend, Belgian side Newteam Beach Soccer Brussels travelled to Düsseldorf, Germany to take part in a number of friendly matches against local sides Real Münster, Wuppertal and Beach Royals Düsseldorf.
Each side played two matches, with the visiting Belgians taking on Wuppertal and Düsseldorf, but missing out against both closely, after having let a lead slip in both games.
Only Real Münster managed to win both ties, beating hosts Düsseldorf 5-4, and then squeezing past Wuppertal on penalties after a thrilling 6-6 tie. All of the matches were incredibly close, with just one goal or penalties marking the difference between the sides in each match.
With the Euro Winners Cup just a matter of weeks away, it is clear that the continent’s clubs are taking their preparation very seriously despite the challenging circumstance created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Results:
Newteam 4-5 Wuppertal
Newteam 5-6 Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf 4-5 Münster
