The left-footed International jumps onto the sand to join the Orange Beach Soccer National Team this season
A new star lands Beach Soccer. Edgar Davids, former FC Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, Internazionale and Ajax player, among others, joined this week the Netherlands Beach Soccer National team, steered by Niels Kokmeijer. The left-footed was really interested in jumping into this modality, as he highly appreciates its flashing action and pace, and he did not miss the chance to join his national side to get started in the sand, precisely this season in which Netherlands will host the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal.
The former eleven-a-side Dutch International will obviously need the necessary adaptation progress, as the surface he is now involved in is really different than the grass he was used to. This is why he has begun a training camp with the Beach Orange, in which he could already realize the demanding conditions of beach soccer, both technically and physically.
Precisely the Dutch National coach himself, Niels Kokmeijer, was a former Eredivisie player before, so knows better than anyone the compulsory retraining Davids needs to go through. The best way for him to keep growing in the sport and become a member of the Dutch National side for good is, Kokmeijer points, “treating him as the rest of the squad. He is just one more of us”.
