The Euro Beach Soccer League 2012 Terracina stage was officially launched this morning, after the press conference held at the Terracina City Hall. The Press Conference was attended by the city’s Major, Niccola Procaccini, Beach Soccer Worldwide General Manager, Gabino Renales, Italian Beach Soccer National Coach , Massimiliano Esposito, Gianfranco Azzola, Assessore allo sport dil Comune di Terracina, Ubaldo Fusco, delegato al turismo Comunie di Terracina, and the Italian National Team players Simone Feudi and Paolo Palmacci, both of them born and raised in this Mediterranean resort, where they still live.
Major Procaccini opened the event by thanking Beach Soccer Worldwide “for their absolute trust in Terracina. They wanted Terracina, and Terracina wanted them. For us, it was a great opportunity to host such an internationally known event such as the Euro Beach Soccer League, and there was no doubt that we wanted to take it. Having such an important tournament in our beach is no less than a dream come true”.
Gabino Renales, in the same line, thanked the “Comune di Terracina back, because we found all door opens and an amusing availability from the Sindaco and all his team. For us it is just great to be here, in the cradle of the sport in Italy. I can only say thanks to everyone for being so supportive”.
Two another key figures of the event travelling to Terracina were Gianfranco Azzola, Assessore allo Sport del Comune di Terracina, and Ubaldo Fusco, delegato Al Turismo. Both of them highlighted ”the importance of placing Terracina in the map, and the best way to do so is through sport, considering the excellent bond it has with tourism. There’s no better way to explain the goods of our city than through such an spectacular sport as Beach Soccer. This is a train we could not miss, and this is why we have made such a great effort in having everything ready in such a short time”.
The technical manager of the Italian Beach Soccer National Team, Massimiliano Esposito, closed the conference talking about the possibilities of the Azzurri in the competition, after a quite sweet beginning of 2012, and the special taste of hosting a competition in Terracina, a place he and his team know very well: “It is a pleasure to be here, with three Terracinesi in the team (Palmacci, Feudi and Frainetti), and we want to give the city further visibility with a great performance, and, hopefully, lifting the Cup. The team is in an excellent shape, focused and determined to achieve something important here. If we play the way we know, we can do really well”.
