The Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015 is only one day away and everything is set for the beach party from the 6th-8th of March
South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, and Seychelles will begin battle on the pitch beginning on Friday the 6th and will finish on Sunday, March 8th. The fierce competition will be even more exciting with the play-off format designed to make the eventual champion have to win out. A single loss will eliminate a team from competing for the Trophy. The format also lends itself to the best possible matches for the entire weekend, with each team being seeded from 1-8, according to the BSWW Overall World Rankings.
Thursday was the official training session day and it has added to all of the excitement surrounding the entire event. Each team was ready for competition but getting on the sand and preparing for their specific opponents has turned up the energy, making for an even more fun atmosphere in the South African beach soccer mainstay, Durban. As every team has taken to the pitch and tried to implement new strategies for their upcoming matches, they now only have to wait until Friday to commence the festivities with a flurry of goals.
All participating teams and officials were given a warm welcome from Logie Naidoo, the Speaker for the Council of Durban, who highlighted the importance of such an event: “Having the best teams in Africa here is something Durban really appreciates, and we are all looking forward for an exceptional competition”. The kind introduction was also accompanied with a greeting from Andrew de Gruchy, the Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015 Tournament Director, that thanked the teams for their availability, and stressed that “this is a key event for the development of Beach Soccer in Africa. Special thanks to Power Horse, whose role has been absolutely key in making this event happen, and the city of Durban, which we want to become a key destiny for beach soccer in the continent”.
