The Albiceleste, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay take part in two events (Copa de La Costa and Copa Mercosur 2012) this week
Four of the South American Beach Soccer rulers will clash as of this Tuesday, January 24th, in a tournament in a double battle to happen in Argentinean soil, both supported by the Asociacion de Futbol Argentina (AFA): Together with the hosts, current CONMEBOL kings Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay will take part, beginning today, in the traditional Copa de La Costa, to happen in Mar de Ajó (Partido de la Costa, Buenos Aires) following a round-robin format for the following three days.
The Albiceleste, who raised the cup last year after beating Uruguay, will have things way more difficult if they want to reedit the gold, as the four-times FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champions, Brazil, land in the tournament for the first time, willing to keep on tune after beating the Beach Soccer Worldwide Team last Sunday in the traditional Desafio Internacional.
Right this same weekend, the four contenders will jump 1.300 kilometers inland to get to Corrientes, where Paso de la Patria will see them face again in the Copa Mercosur 2012. Precisely through such a competitive event, the local representatives in Corrientes want to highlight that Beach Soccer is a sport with huge possibilities, and that no coast is needed to make it happen.
