Catania win 6th Supercoppa in Italy

Marcelo Mendes’ side claimed the record title on Thursday in Pescara

The most successful Italian beach soccer club in history added yet another trophy to their cabinet on Thursday as they lifted their sixth Supercoppa.

The final was played between Catania and Pisa in Pescara on Thursday 3 June.

Featuring the world’s top players, including Gabriele Gori, Swiss international Philipp Borer, and Be Martins from Portugal, Catania defeated Pisa in the final by five goals to four in the final.

Goals from Italian internationals Sanfilippo, Zurlo and Gori, as well as Borer and Be Martins, were enough to see Catania clinch their 13th trophy as a club, the first for legendary Brazilian beach soccer coach Marcelo Mendes, who only joined the Sicilian club recently.

Attention of the beach soccer world now turns to Nazaré in Portugal, where Europe’s top clubs are arriving to content the continental title.
