A slow start to the tournament did not deter the club from climbing the competition and securing themselves as the best
The Torneo Metropolitano de Fútbol Playa 2015-2016, organized by the Division of the sport of the Paraguayan Football Association (APF), with the consecration for the first time from the APF in its history, came to a brilliant and exciting end as team Casa España, appearing in their only final, triumphed over Club Centenario by a score of 5-4. One fact that made this victory more surprising was that Casa España had only earned one point in their first matches to start the event. All the matches were held at the Parque Guasu Metropolitano de la APF in the Ñu Guasu zone.
It was important step for the very competitive South American country and their National Selection as both sides had players with plenty of international talent. The match began with a torrid pace as both sides, Casa España and Centenario exchanged scored a total of five goals in the first period alone. Casa España had the advantage though, netting three goals to two in the opening 12 minutes. The second period slowed a bit, but just barely, as four more goals were scored, two apiece, leaving the score at 5-4 for Casa España going into the final period. The last frame was even more dramatic, but for the opposite reason, defense. The backlines held strong and the score did not change as neither side could notch another goal, leaving Casa España up 5-4 over Club Centenario, and giving them their first title in the Torneo Metropolitano de Futbol Playa.
The third place match was an even higher scoring affair, 9-7, which finished in favour of Garden Club Paraguay over Náutico Puerta del Lago. An interesting turn of events made the match much closer than it was for 2/3 of the day; Náutico scored all seven of their goals in the final frame. The seven goals were not enough to overcome the steady play of Garden Club as they scored at least two goals in each frame. Individual awards for outstanding athletes of the event include Roberto Sánchez, who scored 20 goals, and the best goalkeeper of the tournament was Gabriel Riera of Club Centenario.
