Bukhlitskiy and Likhachev, bearers of Olympic fire

Double World Champions Russia were represented by the goalkeeper and the coach, who carried the torch along Moscow

Andrey Bukhlistkiy and Mikhail Likhachev’s hands have been holding quite remarkable prices lately… If some days ago the goalkeeper and coach of the Russian National Team lifted the World Cup in Tahiti, they were honoured again yesterday, back to their homeland, as two of the bearers of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Fire.

The defending European and two-time World Champions were selected to carry the 2014 Winter Olympic Games torch in the country’s capital, Moscow, together with some other big personalities of the Russian Sports world, including five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Anastasia Davydova , the president of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, the two-time Olympic champion Svetlana Khorkina , the three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina or the president of the Russian Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tretiak .

After this unforgettable moment, Andrey Buklitskiy could hardly express his emotion: “The 147 meters I run with the torch will always remain in my memory. It is such an incredible and indescribable emotion…“, he said.

After some days in Moscow, the Olympic fire will march now towards Kolomna, in its way to Sochi, where the Winter Olympic Games will take place as of next 7th of February.
