Two very different finals saw BSC Euroformat’s scramble for the top spot as BSC AFC 5G cruised to victory
This weekend, a new champion was crowned in the Ukrainian men’s beach soccer league. Following strong campaigns, the final was fought between BSC Euroformat and BSC VIT, with last year’s champions, Vybor, not making it to this year’s final.
The contest was a close one and, in the end, just a single goal would separate these teams as the final whistle blew at 5-4.
For many of the Ukrainian internationals, this high pressure fixture was the perfect preparation for their trip to the SuperFinal in Italy, with the national team, which will take place next week (6th -9th September).
The individual awards mainly reflected the success of the newly-crowned champions, as Euroformat’s Andrii Nerush won the MVP and teammate Dmitro Voytenko, after scoring nine goals, took home the Top Scorer trophy.
The Best Goalkeeper was awarded to Denis Sabatyuk, from Alternativa.
The women’s final took place in Odessa, and the Kiev-based, BSC AFC 5G, took on School of Sport Chornomorec.
The contest wasn’t as close as the men’s final though, as AFC 5G established their dominance and built up and impressive seven-goal cushion between them and their challengers to seal the victory and claim the top spot.
Both BSC Euroformat and BSC AFC 5G triumph will now have the opportunity to appear in the 2019 Euro Winners Cup, for the chance of becoming the champions, not only of their own country, but the whole of Europe.
