The World Cup Champions played their role as favourites on the sand in Valparaiso, and beat hosts Chile. But the way this victory happened clearly states that Chile is becoming a very inconvenient opponent for the Verdeamarela: Soare’s team has needed an extra-time shot to win a match that had turned into rally difficult when the Chileans got ahead in the score in the last minutes of the third quarter.
Chile is maybe the worst nightmare for the Brazilians in the American panorama, at least in 2010’s speaking. They not only snatched the Copa Latina after a 11-8 victory over Brazil, but they had been today really really close to knock the canarinha down again. Although one of the Brazilian heroes, Benjamin, swept his team in front, Palma and Mena turned things around, giving Chie their first lead. Benjamin leveled things again, but Mena repeated put the red ahead again in a choppy first period.
Second one was not that busy, and it was not until the sixth minute of the third time that Anderson would achieve a new equalizer for Brazil. Soare’s lads wanted to get in control, but spirited hosts would not let them on without suffering. In an unfortunate action, Buru drove the ball inside his own goal, and with little more than a minute for the final horn, everything pointed to a new victory by the Chileans over the World Champions. But captain Benjamin, again, sent the exhibition to extra time, and now, Brazil would not miss the chance. Anderson scored the winner for his side, and ended in the sweetest possible way a really hard morning for the Brazilians.
