Mexico will face the tetracampeona Brazil, CONCACAF champions, USA, and the emerging European power Germany. The tournament will be held at Mamita’s Beach Club (Playa del Carmen) from May 16th to 18th.
The second edition of Beach Soccer Worldwide Tour – Riviera Maya Cup, will be held at Mamita ‘s Beach Club Playa del Carmen between the 16th and 18th of May, and it arrives with much strength. The event organizers have confirmed that four of the worlds´ best teams will be playing. Their level of play will make this professional beach soccer tournament an absolutely first-class event. Proof of this is the international television broadcast, which will air the competition in more than 120 countries worldwide.
After the resounding success of the first edition in May 2013, there have been many teams that have wanted to take part in the championship that has been marked as one of the key dates of the Beach Soccer calendar. In the end, the chosen teams are Brazil, the United States and Germany, which will fly to the heart of the spectacular Riviera Maya to try and spoil the party for the host Mexico. Ramon Raya and his team will have to perform at their highest level against three very tough rivals.
Defending the scepter, Brazil looks to repeat on the sand of Mamita’s Beach Club and have all intention to retain the cup. Four time world champion, once beating Mexico in the final ( 2007), the verdeamarela are undoubtedly the most recognizable team in the global landscape. The fathers of Beach Soccer, Brazil has, without a doubt, dominated for the last two decades, and only the reign of the current two-time world champion Russia has interrupted the Brazilian Beach Soccer dynasty.
Another of the Aztecs traditional rivals, the U.S. team, will walk into the Riviera Maya Cup as current CONCACAF champion and intend to command respect. In the last region qualifier in the Bahamas, the United States took the continental crown from Mexico. The battle in Playa del Carmen presents a unique opportunity for the Mexican side to begin the climb back to the top of the continental scene.
Just like last year, the third match for the Tri is coming from across the Atlantic. One of the emerging powers in beach soccer on the Old Continent is Germany, and they will make their debut on the Aztec soil in hopes of earning the cup.
The Beach Soccer Worldwide Tour – Riviera Maya Cup 2014 has all of the elements for a spectacular event : blessed to be in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, a passionate public, a collection of four of the most important teams on the global scale, an amazing atmosphere with music, cheerleaders, and a party…Also, admission is free.
