A 2-0 run in the first minutes had the hosts ahead all match long. Every time the Portuguese tried to cut the distance down, they found a blunt response by the Brazilians. Despite getting 3-2 and 4-3, Narciso’s side never managed the equalizer. Getting into the last period 6-3 down in the score, things became too difficult for the European, who could one pull back one more goal for the 6-4. But Mauricinho closed the score for Brazil heading the 7-4 in, thus securing the Copa das Naçoes for his side.
Switzerland clinch third
In the match for the third place, Switzerland managed to capture three points that will let them fly back with three points. Three goals by Schirinzi in the second period made the difference for the Alpine, together with Werder’s and Borer’s hits.
Uruguay, in turn, leaves the competition with no points. It has been a tough end of the year for the Charrúa, in a season that began with their early elimination at the CONMEBOL Qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013.
