Beach Soccer, example at the CONCACAF Summit

Joan Cuscó, FIFA Beach Soccer CEO and FIFA Beach Soccer Committee Member, was one of the presenters at the CONCACACF Sports Summit 2013, held these past 21-22 of October at Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands.

Cuscó presented the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013 results as a model of successful involvement and relationship with the local government and population. In a panel discussion on Football in your Economy – Football events and their sustainable legacies to the local economy, the FIFA Beach Soccer CEO and FIFA Beach Soccer Committee Member shared discussions and exchanged points of view with football representatives such as Dr. Danny Jordaan, CEO of the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010, Hassan Abdullah Al-Thawadi, CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Yon de Luisa, Director of the LOC, FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011.

Leaders from the worlds of football, business and government came together at the first CONCACAF Sports Summit on Tuesday, pledging to forge new partnerships to further develop the game across North and Central America and the Caribbean.

Hosted by CONCACAF President, Jeffrey Webb and Cayman Islands Premier, Honorable Alden McLaughlin, important personalities of the Football world were also present, including FIFA President, Joseph S. Blatter, FIFA Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, Enrique Sanz, General Secretary of CONCACAF, Victor Montagliani, president of the Canada Football Association or Nic Coward, General Secretary of The Premier League, among others. Football former stars, such as Frenchman Bernard Lama, Trinidad & Tobago internationals Dwight Yorke and Shaka Hisplop or US star Cobi Jones, were also present. 
 
A wide range of themes were addressed in speeches and panel discussions with a session on ?Football?s Positive Impact on Society? looking at success stories where the game has been used as a tool for positive change, also looking at the commercial benefits the game can bring.
