December 13th and 14th are designated for the extravaganza that will bring the party to North Beach, Australia
This year marks the fifth time that the Cup has taken place and it is poised to make an even bigger leap this year as there are festivities galore to go around. This year they will have top-notch beach soccer as well as entertainment with cheerleaders and samba dancers, live music, activities for children, a charity match and a modeling contest. The expansion of the tournament over the past four years reflects the worldwide growth of the sport. Lasts year’s event attracted over 8000 spectators and it marked the first time International teams took part including Australia, Thailand and China. This years’ Cup will feature Australia along with Thailand, and Vanuatu will make its first appearance.
The Socceroos won the Cup in 2013 and are ready to defend their title and soil in beautiful Wollongong. In addition to all of the excitement surrounding the event, there is the drama of who will take home the coveted Top Scorer Award. Former 11v11 star, David Zdrilic, now a star on the Australian National Beach Soccer Team, has been the only winner of the award and the massive crowds with gather to see if he can retain the title and make it five years in a row.
