Adriele and Junior receive Mirante Esporte awards in Brazil

Both received the Trofeu Mirante Esporte, celebrating their performances as Maranhense athletes

In the 15th edition of the Oscar do Esporte Maranhense two of beach soccer’s best-known Brazilians, Adriele and Junior, were presented with trophies.

Adriele Rocha was recently awarded a bronze medal at the World Beach Games in Qatar when she played a key part in the Brazilian women’s team’s first official tournament, and she added another award to her cabinet.

Another member of the beach soccer family was also recognised at the ceremony, as Junior, winner of the brand-new Best Legend award at the Beach Soccer Stars gala in November, also took home a trophy.

The former footballer and beach soccer competed in world cups on both sand and grass, winning all the editions of the beach soccer world championships from 1995 to 2000.

The award ceremony took place on Thursday 23 January at the Arthur Azevedo Theatre in São Luís, Brazil.

In attendance were 105 athletes from across 28 sports, including Basketball, Karate, Swimming and, of course, Beach Soccer.
