The Continental League started on the 6th of June, two decades ago, in Siracusa (ITA)
A day like today, 20 years ago, the Euro Beach Soccer League made its first step. It was in Siracusa (Italy), with Germany and Spain playing the first ever Continental League Game. The Germans won that opening match (8-5). Italy and Switzerland were in that stage, as well, in the opening of a competition that would finally crown the Mannschaft as the first European kings.
In these 20 years, the Euro Beach Soccer League has become the core of the European beach soccer season, having visited more than 80 different venues in 21 countries all across the Old Continent. From Portugal to Russia. From Norway to Greece.
In just some weeks, the 21st edition of the Euro Beach Soccer League will take off in Baku (Azerbaijan). Will anyone manage to depose defending kings Russia this season?
