32 Men’s and 16 Women’s teams will vie for the continental glory in Catania, for a record-breaking participation!
The Euro Winners Cup has quickly become a very key event in beach soccer calendars. Players, coaches and fans alike are deeply in love with a competition which is formatted for an undeniably and iron-forged success.
Numbers speak for themselves, as not only the natural evolution of the competition, but also beach soccer itself, has led to the inclusion of a Women’s competition this year in Catania’s big showpiece: This coming edition, 32 teams from 28 different countries will take part in the European champions cup, Men’s competition, which is in its fourth edition.
In addition to that, this 2016 Euro Winners Cup will also include a Women’s competition, which will have 16 teams coming down to the Sicilian resort for a new historic step in our sport.
The magnitude that this competition is adding has led to the decision to spread the matches over three different pitches, one more than we had in the first three versions.
The competition format will follow the regular system used to date: Group stage, as in a round robin with eight groups of four-teams, followed by the play-off stages (quarterfinals, semi-finals and final). The final list of the teams and the match schedule will be confirmed soon.
