Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup completes Official Draw

The UAE, Mexico, Portugal, Argentina, Russia, Tahiti, Iran, and Egypt have been split into two groups after the draw took place on October 6th in Dubai

Hosted in the Westin Hotel in Dubai on Tuesday the 6th of October, the Official Draw put the eight best teams in the world into two separate but just as competitive groups. Play will begin on November 3rd and finish with a super clash in the final on November 7th. The teams are split into two groups; A and B, both of which have intriguing matchups on the two sides of the draw. The pool of teams is as follows: The UAE, Mexico, Portugal, Argentina, Russia, Tahiti, Iran, and Egypt.

Group A has the hosts, the UAE, taking on Russia, Egypt, and Argentina. The UAE will have the benefit of playing in front of their home crowd and they always field a strong side, while the favourites in the Group are the Russians, who won the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2011 and 2013. Egypt played tough in their CAF Pre-Qualifiers and Qualifier and they just recently won the Silver Medal at the Mediterranean Beach Games Pescara 2015. Argentina has always had a very developed and disciplined beach soccer side and having qualified for every World Cup is proof of that, along with the fact that they came in 3rd Place in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers in Ecuador this year.

Just like Group A, Group B will be tough for any team to advance. Group B has Portugal, Mexico, Iran, and Tahiti. Each and every team has earned their right to play in the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2015, but not every team is created equal as Portugal is the current FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champion and Tahiti was the runner-up in the thrilling finale in Portugal. On top of that, Iran came in 3rd Place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 – AFC Qualifier Qater, while Mexico earned 1st Place in the CONCACAF Region Qualifier. The draw is just the beginning as the party starts on November 3rd, with the IV FIFA Workshop and the tournament, then it concludes on the 7th of November with the title match and the second annual Beach Soccer Stars Night, an award ceremony for everything beach soccer.
