Hard-battled contest continues in Merlo

Uruguay, Chile, Colombia and Brazil clinch the points today at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier

Extra time win for Uruguay gets the Charrúa first units

Uruguay and Venezuela opened the second day in Merlo with a new display of how leveled things are in the South American Beach Soccer stage. The Charrúa, one of the most powerful teams in the CONMEBOL region knew that their first step in the Qualifier was meant to be really tough, and only hard-work and a better aim during the extra time, made the difference. Not in vain, Venezuela were one of the teams making it to the world Cup in last edition, whereas the Celeste side were not.

Pampero became the most outstanding player in the game, as his two goals pushed Uruguay ahead when things had got really complicated for Aguirre?s side. Venezuela remained tough all the time, with Gianluca and Vaamonde equalizing for the Vinotinto every Uruguayan advantage. All, but the latter, as Pampero?s 2-3 in the extra time meant for the Charrúa the two points at stake.

Goals: 1-0: Martín Díaz, min. 5 (1); 1-1: Gianluca, min. 0 (1); 1-2: Pampero, min. 0 (1); 2-2: Vaamonde, min. 6 (2); 3-2: Pampero, min. 2 (et)

Chile keep inspired

A third-period three-goal rally had Chile earning their sixth points and getting on top of Group A, benefitting, of course, that Argentina was not playing today. After two legs of hard fighting against Perú , La Roja remained strong in the last twelve minutes, and a prolific run sealed a really important win for De Luise?s side.

Castro?s opening the score made the Chileans remember how difficult it is to prevail in such a terrific battle as the FIFA BEach Soccer World Cup ? CONMEBOL Qualifier. Their reaction came rather soon, and that let them get in control of the game, with Valenzuela pushing the team onwards. Castro found the back of La Roja?s nets once again for the Peruvians, but the last stage turned to be an absolute Chilean territory, as three Valenzuela and Carrasco, rounding two doubles, would prove.

Goals: 0-1: Castro, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Belaunde, min. 3 (1); 2-1: Valenzuela, min. 0 (1); 2-2: Castro, min. 10 (3); 3-2: Valenzuela, min. 3 (3); 4-2: Carrasco, min. 2 (3); 5-2: Carrasco, min. 2 (3)

Colombia come back to earn first points

Colombia could get even with yesterday?s defeat and edged combative Paraguay to earn the first three points in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier being held at Merlo, San Luis (Argentina). The Cafeteros, who found themselves down in the score by mid first period, lasted a while to find their place in the Parque Recreativo, but they turned the score around before it was too late.

Two goals by Marcos and Roja?s 3-1 gave the match a totally different colour. Current champions of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa, Paraguay, tried to counteract Colombia?s momentum but, playing with one man less, their reaction fell one goal short.

Goles: 0-1: Morán, min. 6 (1); 1-1: Marcos, min. 11 (3); 2-1: Marcos, min. 5 (3); 3-1: Rojas, min. 4 (3); 3-2: Pereira, min. 3 (3)

Brazil need extra effort to run past Ecuador

Brazil clinched a difficult victory against mighty Ecuador in their debut in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier Merlo-San Luis. Defending champions needed a lot of their magic to finally unbalance a game which had turned really difficult.

Negão?s side hit the sand with the idea of letting everyone now that they see nothing else than reediting, for the fifth time, the Continental crown. Benjamin and Bruno Xavier built a significant advantage midway first half, and Jorginho replied Cedeño?s affront with the 3-1. Ecuador, though, were fully focused on upsetting the Tetracampeão, and kept fighting until they saw Gallegos balance the score. Before second leg was over, though, Sidney swept his team ahead once again.

The struggle went on in the last stage, and Bailón equalized one last time in the fifth minute, only to find, though, an immediate response by Bueno to reestablish the Brazilian dominion. Jorginho?s brilliant bicycle kick secured the Verdeamarela the win, and the first three points to get on top of Group B.
