Group A
ASD Napoli record spectacular victory
It was an extraordinary start to the group stages for ASD Napoli as they won 16-2 against BS Vion. The Italian team led 7-2 with two periods played in the match, as the found nine goals in the third and final period. An incredible beginning to the Group A for Italians, as BS Vion will look to bounce back in their next fixture. 

Copenhagen BSC triumph in Group A
Copenhagen BSC got off to winning ways in Group A, winning 4-2 against Kebbi BSC. A second period double from Baaske, as well as strikes from goalkeeper, Madsen and Wegeberg got the job done for the Danish side on the opening day.

Group B
A positive start for FC Genappe
FC Genappe faced Naxos BS in the Group B opener. Vlaminck and Lança put the Belgian team in the lead in the opening period. Despite Carmo’s goal for the Italian side in the second period, it wasn’t enough to get back into the fixture as no goals were scored in the third period.

Seven for Dalian
Dalian beat Real Münster 7-3 in the second Group B fixture of the World Winners Cup 2023. Mauricio and Rodrigo both scored hat-tricks in the fixture for the Chinese side, as Liu Y S also found the net. All of the German team’s goals came in the final period through Bokinha, Zé Lucas and Hodel. 

Group C
Canada BSC score nine
Casa Benfica Viseu and Canada BSC got Group C action underway, as the Canadian club won the match 9-3. The Portuguese team took an early two-goal lead in the opening period through Saraiva and Madeira, but their opponents took real control from the second period of the fixture. Canale, Jankovic and Xristidis all hit the back of the net twice each in a strong performance from Canada BSC.

Catania FC defeat the European champions
Catania FC beat Falfala KQ BSC 6-3 in the second Group C fixture of the competition. Datinha found the only goal of the first period, as the Italian side led 1-0 after 12 minutes played. Eudin began his scoring in the second period, as team mate, Marinai completed a brace, as Moreb pulled one back for the Israeli club. Despite Jaberen’s brace in the third period, found two goals of their own, courtesy of Eudin and Gori to see out their victory.

Group D
Hat-trick heroes earn Recreativo Huelva opening day success
Newteam Brussels started their World Winners Cup campaign with a Group D fixture against Recreativo Huelva. A first period hat-trick from Casano got Spanish side off to a great start, leading 3-0 once the period came to a close.

Gerlan and Adri Frutos found Recreativo Huelva’s fourth and fifth goals in the fourth period, before Gerlan completed his hat-trick and Camacho found the net in the third period, with Baketu scoring a consolation for the Belgians.

Riga FC win tight fixture
The second Group D fixture saw Riga FC come out on top against Napoli Patron BSC in a 3-2 win on the sands of Alghero. Following a goalless first period, Rafinha and Hohluks gave the Latvian team a 2-0 lead in the second phase of play. Paloumpis and Juanma struck in the final period for the Greek side, but Bernardo’s goal in the period meant that Riga FC took all three points.

Group E
BSC Vybor take the points
The curtain raiser in Group E saw BSC Vybor win 6-2 against Bologna BS, with the Ukrainian side finding the net five times in the match, before the Italians managed to pull one back at the end of the second period. Dubovyk and Shchytnik each secured a brace in the fixture, as their team achieved a comfortable victory.

Mazarrón magnificent in Sardinia
Mazarrón won 7-3 against Marseille BT in the second Group E match of the day. Players from both sides achieved hat-tricks in the match, with Jaime Verra scoring for the Spanish side and Varrel netting for the French team, as goals from Domi, Suli Batis and Gines making the difference in Sardinia.

Group F
Barra de Santiago fight back
To get Group F underway, Cali BSC faced Barra de Santiago in Alghero. The Salvadoran club led 2-1 after the first period finished, but goals from Aleksandr and Andres meant that Cali BSC were ahead after two periods played. However, a Tanner brace and Darwin finish won the match for Barra de Santiago.

BSC Artur Music flourish in the third period
To conclude Group F action on the opening day BSC Artur Music defeated Pafos FC 6-5. Alisson netted a hat-trick for the Cypriot club, as Jordan completed a brace, but a Voitenko hat-trick, Niftaliiev double and a goal from Lystopad won the match for the Ukrainians, as they turned the match around late on, with four of their goals coming in the last period.
