Press Conference takes place in Catania ahead of WBG Qualifier

The ANOC World Beach Games European Qualifier will kick off in Sicily on Monday


A Conference was held this morning at the Catania International Airport Hotel ahead of the ANOC World Beach European Qualifier.

Facing the many members of the media in attendance, were Sergio Parisi, Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Catania, Giuseppe Bosco, President of Catania Beach Soccer, Gabino Renales, Vice President of Beach Soccer World Wide, Italian women’s national team captain, Gabriele Gori, Italian national team captain, Enzo Falzone, Deputy Vice President CONI Sicily, Emiliano Del Duca, Italian National Coach, Ferdinando Arcopinto, Head of the Italian National Delegation and Sandro Morgana, President of the Sicily Regional Committee.

Sergio Parisi, Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Catania: “I can only underline the excellent work done by President Bosco and Catania Beach Soccer. The ANOC World Beach Games Qualifier will represent my latest release as Councillor at the Sport of Catania. I will remain a sports manager who has confidence and hope that those who come after us can continue the path started by our Administration.”

Giuseppe Bosco, President of Catania Beach Soccer: ”Since 1998 we have lived, without ever stopping, 23 seasons. This year we have embellished ours I work with a world-class event. I am satisfied, in spite of the many difficulties, of work and of the organisational machine. I thank the institutions present and the Sicilian Region alongside BSWW and the FIGC.”

Gabino Renales, Vice President of Beach Soccer World Wide: “I don’t think there are many Beach Soccer clubs in the world that carry out this work with the passion and enthusiasm transmitted by President Bosco and also for this, on behalf of BSWW, I would like to publicly thank him. Inside this great event, which welcomes as many as 20 national teams.”

Sandy Iannella, Italian women’s national team captain: “As captain, I would like thank the Federation that put us in the best conditions to do well and express ourselves in this very prestigious event. It is up to us now to demonstrate all our value. We are a complete squad, we want to have our say and earn the ticket for Bali 2023.”

Gabriele Gori, Italian national team captain: “I was present in Doha, in 2019, for the first edition of the ANOC World Beach Games. I wish the best to our national team, both men and women, who are working hard to achieve the objectives set.”

Emiliano Del Duca, Italian National Coach: “I am satisfied because the women’s national team project was born four months ago and we are working hard towards ambitious goals. As for men, it is a moment of generational change it also needs an investment on our part. We ask the fans to come to the Beach Arena to support us and get excited with us.”

Ferdinando Arcopinto, Head of the Italian National Delegation: “Beach Soccer is growing and it also owes it to the union of intentions between the Federation, BSWW and FIFA. With great pride I reiterate that our Federation was one of the first to believe in this sport. The hope is that our national teams, both male and female, can win qualification for Bali.”

Enzo Falzone, Deputy Vice President CONI Sicily: “CONI is following with great attention to sports activities, including Beach Soccer, and has been applauding Catania Beach Soccer President Bosco for years. He is someone who has always stood up for the quality and competitiveness with which he operates in this sector.”

Sandro Morgana, President of the Sicily Regional Committee: “Since 2004, a year which coincides with my first election as President of CR Sicily and the first federal championship in which Catania Beach Soccer took part, I have been close to this sport that transversally unites and fascinates in Italy and in the world. In recent years, Italian and world Beach Soccer has made great strides and prepares to become an Olympic discipline.”

That matches are scheduled from 29 August to 4 September at See Sicily Arena Beach Stadium, and will decide which five men’s and four women’s national teams will represent Europe at the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games in Bali.
