Al-Ahli reigns supreme in Istanbul Beach Soccer Cup

After staying perfect all weekend the UAE’s top club took home the Cup which was held from the 18th-20th of September in Istanbul

Visiting UAE club giants, Al-Ahli, came up big in finale to secure the Cup over hosts Antalyaspor BS, while Valencia CF and Milano BS had an exciting match as well for 3rd Place. The three day event kicked off on Friday and despite a Round Robin format, Sunday was the de facto championship match as both Al-Ahli and Antalyaspor won their opening matches against Milano and Valencia in the opening days of the event.

The opening festivities began with Milano BS taking on Al-Ahli BS at noon and the match was high-scoring and dramatic, finishing 7-6 for Al-Ahli but only after extra time. The first three periods finished 6-6 and the deciding goal was netted by the UAE club in overtime. The final match on day one was another cracker, with Antalyaspor winning on penalties, 5(3)-5(2) over Valencia. The second day did not have as many goals but still had a tight battle between Al-Ahli and the Spanish club Valencia, with the Spaniards falling 4-3. In the other match, the Turkish side won big by a score of 7-1 over the Italian team, Milano.

Sunday was the final day of beach soccer in Istanbul and only one goal, with the same score in both matches, separated the winning sides from the losing ones. For 3rd Place, Valencia was victorious by a score of 4-3. Al-Ahli shocked the home team by squeaking out a 4-3 win.
