The three-day event will take place from June 6th to 8th at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Virginia Beach, USA, will host the 31st annual Atlantic Union Bank North American Sand Soccer Championships (NASSC) between 6th and 8th June. Nearly 800 amateur and professional teams, spanning divisions from Under-8 to Over-40, will compete across 66+ sand fields stretching along the oceanfront in 1,400+ matches played over three days. The event, hosted by the Hampton Roads Soccer Council (HRSC), is free to the public and is expected to draw approximately 100,000 attendees from within and outside of the US.

The highlight of the weekend will be the U.S. Open Beach Soccer Championships, featuring elite men’s and women’s teams from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and Europe. Returning champions Maryzillians, three-time NASSC U.S. Open Men’s winners will face strong competition from clubs like Punta Hermosa, Barra de Santiago, SoCal Legacy, and Atletico Rio. The U.S. Open serves as a platform for emerging talent, with local standouts like Chris Albiston and Austin Collier representing the U.S. Men’s National Beach Soccer Team.

NASSC Executive Director Lauren Bland expressed her excitement: “We are thrilled to welcome thousands of families and friends to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront for our 31st anniversary. The vibe is upbeat, friendly, and feels like the world’s largest soccer reunion.” Matt Whalen, U.S. Open Director, added, “Both men’s and women’s brackets are highly competitive and will showcase the best beach soccer our planet has to offer.”

The NASSC honours its founder with the Dick Whalen Soccer Scholarship, established in 2020, which has awarded over $50,000 to local student-athletes. Proceeds from the event support the 75-acre Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, which hosts over 750,000 visitors annually, and its ongoing upgrades, including a project to convert six Bermuda grass fields to artificial turf with flood lights.

The 2025 edition of the NASSC promises a true celebration of a beach soccer festival experience, featuring official merchandise that showcases the Virginia Beach skyline alongside a marlin and the iconic NASSC ball.
