England and Spain won and lead the Women's Mundialito
Matchday 2 of the Women’s Mundialito 2022 in Gran Canaria brought once again spectacular moments to the Playa del Inglés beach. Both England and Spain won and will face each other tomorrow to decide who are the first ever champions of the Women’s Mundialito.
Molly Clark shows the way
England stepped on the sand motivated by the 6-1 win in the previous day agains Ukraine to face a Czech Republic side that were looking to bounce back from their defeat against Spain.
The first period was fairly even, and it wouldn’t be until 16 second before the break that Molly Clark made it 1-0 with a one-touch bicycle kick.
Clark would score her second goal arriving quicker to a free-kick rebound in the second period. The Czechs reacted and cut the distance trough Čulová but less than a minute later Martin scored the 3-1 for England.
Folprechtová restored the Czechs’ hope 11 seconds into the final period but a bicycle kick by James made it 4-2 and earned all three points for the Lionesses.
Spain decide it early
After cruising past the Czechs in Matchday 1, Spain continued showing their authority, this time against Ukraine.
Four goals in three minutes by Lorena, Corbacho, Jou and Manau put the hosts in a comfortable position in the first period.
The Ukrainians stabilized the match and kept Spain from scoring until the last minute of the second period when Cris made it 5-0.
The third period rewarded Ukraine with a consolation goal, scored from distance by Dekhtiar setting the final result to 5-1.
