Group A
Portugal win 5-3 against Czechia.
The first women’s game of the second day in Nazaré saw Portugal face off against Czechia in Group A. The match began with a cautious approach from both teams, resulting in a goalless first period. The second period sparked to life with a yellow card for Czechia’s Duchatschova, followed by Beatriz’s goal for Portugal. However, Duchatschova equalised late in the period, levelling the score.

The third period was a thrilling affair, with Portugal taking the lead through Cristiana’s goal. Czechia received two yellow cards, but Pychova and Kozarova scored to keep them in contention. Nevertheless, Portugal’s relentless pressure paid off with further goals from Marta, Inês C., and Carolina, securing a 5-3 victory.

Portugal’s attacking prowess ultimately proved decisive, with a second win in two games and Czechia now with two losses in two games.

Group B
Spain win 14-2 against England.
Spain dominated the match from the outset, with Carol Glez. scoring just 2 minutes into the game. The Spanish team went on to net five goals in the first period, with England’s Scadding grabbing a late consolation goal. The second period followed a similar pattern, as Spain scored five more goals, with Barron scoring England’s only goal of the period.

Spain’s relentless pressure continued in the third period, as they added four more goals to their tally. England, on the other hand, struggled to cope with Spain’s attacking prowess and received all three yellow card events. The 14-2 victory marks a resounding win for Spain, with Andrea Miron, Cris G, Paqui C, and Manau all scoring braces.

The Spanish team’s impressive goal-scoring display and England’s struggles in defence will be key areas to focus on in upcoming matches.

Poland win 3-0 against Switzerland.
Poland made a blistering start to the match, scoring through Suskiewicz just a minute into the game. Switzerland’s woes were compounded when Raselli received a red card. Poland maintained composure, scoring twice in the second period through Matusiak and Szpera to take a commanding 3-0 lead.


The third period was a quiet affair, with neither team able to find the back of the net. Poland’s early goals had already sealed the win, and they saw out the remainder of the match with ease. Switzerland, on the other hand, were unable to recover from their slow start, resulting in a goalless run.

The victory marks a convincing win for Poland, Switzerland will need to regroup after a tough loss.
