Group A
Portugal win 4-3 against Ukraine.
In a nail-biting encounter, Portugal secured a slim victory over Ukraine in their opening match of the Women’s Superfinal. The first period ended goalless, but Ukraine broke the deadlock in the second period through Yurasova and Kostiuk’s goal each. However, Kostiuk’s celebrations were short-lived, as she received a red card.
Portugal regrouped in the third period, turning the match around with Marta’s brace. Carolina and Daniela added a goal each to seal the win for Portugal. Ukrainian goalkeeper Terekh struck late in the final period but it couldn’t do the magic, as Portugal held on for a slim 4-3 victory and will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures.
The win gives Portugal a strong start in the Women’s Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal, while Ukraine will look to bounce back in their next match.
Italy win 7-0 against Czechia.
In their Group A opener, Italy dominated the game from the start, resulting in an own goal conceded by Czechia. Privitera’s goal doubled the lead for Italy before the end of the first period and Santos extended Italy’s advantage to 3-0 midway through the second period, leaving Czechia reeling.
The third period saw Italy pull away, with Vecchione, Privitera, Massa, and Ninietante all finding the net. Czechia’s struggles were compounded by two yellow cards in the final period, as Italy’s clinical finishing and performance sealed the win.
Italy’s attacking flair and defensive solidity make them a formidable force in the Superfinal, Czechia, meanwhile, must regroup and rediscover their rhythm to stay in contention.
