Netherlands win 6-3 against Belgium
Nancy got the Netherlands off to the ideal start in the first period, opening the scoring with three minutes of play. Belgium hit back right at the last minute of the period, with Jordan finding the equaliser to leave it 1-1.
The second period proved just as competitive. Nancy struck again for the Netherlands to restore their lead, but Belgium responded immediately when Jordan netted her second, leaving the game again level, this time at 2-2 heading into the final period.
The third period exploded into action. Nina pushed the Netherlands ahead 3-2, only for Deswaef to level for Belgium at 3-3. However, the Dutch side dominated the closing stages, as Nancy completed her hat-trick, Sharona added another, and Nidia rounded off the scoring to secure a resounding 6-3 victory.
Italy win 3-2 against Poland
The first period was goalless as both defences held firm under early pressure.
The second period saw Italy break the deadlock when Illiano found the net late in the period. Poland hit back with Matusiak scoring to level at 1-1, but Privitera restored the lead to 2-1 for the Italian side just before the second break.
The match reached a climax in the final period. Poland drew level when Dall’Ara found the target. However, Italy had the final say. Vecchione struck to restore the lead at 3-2 and secure all three points for Italy.
