UAE react in third stage to open Independence Cup with win
The UAE national team knew how to hold their nerve despite the difficulties to turn the score around in the third period of their game against Oman and end up securing the first points at stake at this Independence Beach Soccer Cup Kiyv 2021.
After Khalid pushed Oman ahead just two minutes into the game, it took the Emirati some minutes to pull themselves together. UAE found it difficult to shake off the Omani dominion for most of the first half of the game, as Thalib Hilal’s men kept leading the game and enjoying the clearest goal chances.
But, little by little, UAE started growing on the sand in Kyiv, and the forces were fully balanced coming into the last stage of the second period, thus getting ready for the final assault in the last frame. And Mohammad Al Mazmi’s lads couldn’t find a better way to kick-star that last stage than with two consecutive goals that turned score around.
Waleed Beshr, first, and Hassan Bolo, just seconds after Oman’s kick to resume the game after the first hit, made it 2-1 for UAE, a score they managed to keep until the end of the game to grasp their first win of the competition.
Goals: 0-1: Khalid, min. 9 (1); 1-1: Waleed B., min. 11 (3); 2-1: Hassan Bolo., min. 11 (3)
Ukraine run past Turkey and sit atop Independence Cup standings
The Ukrainian National side began the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup in a brilliant fashion, securing a convincing win over Turkey to end day one atop the standings in Kyiv.
Ukraine started strong, with Pashko, Glutskyi and Zborovskiy hitting the Turkish nets in the first minutes for a comfortable 3-0 lead. Turkey tried to react in the last seconds of that first period, and the two brightest Turkish stars, Baris and Cem Keskin pulled two back to put Milli Takimlar just one goal behind.
But that would be the end of the Turkish reaction, as a 3-0 run by the hosts in the middle frame would practically decide the game. Pashko, with two more goals that rounded a hat-trick that makes him the eventual top-scorer of the competition, and Zavorotniy, made things 6-2, practically sealing the win for the Ukrainian side.
Just in case there still was some room for speculation, Glutskiy and Zborovskiy ended it by adding two more to the Ukrainian advantage, having the score 2-8. Semih’s last effort for Turkey was obviously too little to make things change at that stage, and Ukraine end up day commanding the table of this Independence Beach Soccer Kyiv 2021.
Goals: 0-1: Pashko, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Glutskyi, min. 4 (1); Zborovskiy, min. 4 (1); 1-3: Baris, min. 3 (1); 2-3: Cem Keskin, min. 0 (1); 2-4: Pashko, min. 11 (2); 2-5: Zavorotniy, min. 1 (2); 2-6: Pashko, min. 0 (2); 2-7: Glutskiy, min. 3 (3); 2-8: Zborovskiy, min. 1 (3); 3-8: Semih, min. 0 (3)
