After the official training sessions held yesterday, the Independence Cup Kiev starts its engines!
A new beach soccer event has entered the scene, as this weekend sees the Ukrainian capital host the first-ever Independence Beach Soccer Cup.
The event will feature four national teams from across the world, as they battle to claim an historic title.
The teams were confirmed as, hosts Ukraine, Turkey, Oman and UAE, and will each meet each other once in a round robin competition format.
UAE, ranked highest out of the four teams in 14th place in the Official World Ranking, will get the action underway when they take on Oman in the opening game of the brand-new tournament, while hosts Ukraine will go up against Turkey in the second match.
For the two Asian nations, Oman and UAE, the tournament will also provide some essential preparation time on the sand, ahead of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is being held in Moscow in August.
The Independence Beach Soccer Cup 2021 will take place in Kiev from 23 – 25 July, and all matches will be streamed live at beachsoccer.com/watch.
