“The amount of talent at this Mundialito is amazing”

The first press conference ahead of the Mundialito de Clubes Moscow 2021 was held today

The Mundialito de Clubes Moscow was brought one step closer when an online press conference, directed from the MIA Rossiya Segodnya headquarters, was held earlier today. The President of Beach Soccer Worldwide, Joan Cusco, the Tournament Producer, Evgeniy Bitenskiy, the President of BSC Lokomotiv Moscow, Vitaly Pogodin and the Head Coach of BSC Spartak, Anton Shkarin, attended the press conference.

“Going back to Moscow is a special feeling. After the amazing FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup we had at the Luzhniki, with big games, a big crowd and big entertainment, and also with the memories of the last Mundialito in 2020, we come back with renewed energy.”

“It is very important to highlight that, despite the harsh conditions over these last years with the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the world so badly, we were still able to celebrate a Mundialito in 2020 and we will also have a Mundialito in 2021. I want to thank the Local Organizing Committee for their huge effort in making that happen”, he added.

Asked about the teams, Cusco also stressed that “We have really good teams taking part in this edition, all of them with amazing players. Together with the hosts, Lokomotiv and Spartak, who are super strong teams, we have Vasco da Gama back, giving the opportunity for fans to enjoy another great team from Brazil, and of course the defending champions, Braga. Also Levante, Tokyo Verdy, Dinamo Minsk and Club Nacional are very powerful teams. I wouldn’t want to try and predict a single result…”

In that same sense, the president of BSC Lokomotiv, Vitaly Pogodin, cited the Mundialito as, “one of the best events in the world”, also stating his expectations: “I hope to meet Spartak Moscow in the final, and may the best team win…”

“I hope we do”, came the reply from Spartak Head Coach Anton Shkarin. The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021 champion also explained the interest he has been noticing from the fans: “Even during the World Cup people kept asking me a lot about the Mundialito in 2021. Everybody was already looking forward to it then.”

Similarly, the Tournament Producer, Evgeniy Bitevskiy, stressed the high interest the Mundialito attracts, and went through all the careful planning being done to cope with the currently difficult Covid-19 situation in the country. “We are paying special attention to safety, as it is one of the priority elements, and planning a thorough protocol.”
