A 5-3 win against Casa Benfica de Loures saw Os Guerreiros do Minho lift the cup

Figueira da Foz hosted the first edition of the Supertaça de Portugal on Friday 15 April, as SC Braga defeated Casa Benfica de Loures to claim the maiden title.

Casa Benfica began on the front foot, taking the lead through La Roja striker Chiky in the first period.

Braga reacted and managed to turn the score around thanks to goals from Brazilian Filipe Silva (2), Rúben Brilhante and Léo Martins.

In the final period, Daniel Zidane’s side managed to reduce the different, through Bernardo Lopes, top scorer at the last edition of the Euro Winners Cup, and Luís Henrique. But Filipe Silva, without doubt the protagonist of the match, put the game to bed with a final strike to make it 5-3 at the whistle.

The Brazilian international commented after the match, “I am very happy to have helped the team to win this title. The team is very united and we give everything each other. They took an early lead but, but we worked hard to turn the situation around.”
