Tournament Set to Kick-Off on 16th September at Lido Blu, Playa Beach in Catania
The press conference to present the World Winners Cup took place this morning in the Sala Giunta of the Palazzo degli Elefanti. The prestigious tournament, scheduled to run from Tuesday 16 to Sunday 21 September, will be hosted at Lido Blu on the Playa beach in Catania, Italy. A total of 36 clubs – 24 men’s and 12 women’s – will compete in what is set to be one of the most exciting and highly anticipated events in the world of beach soccer.
At the foot of Europe’s largest volcano, Catania will serve as the backdrop for this thrilling competition, marking the end of a packed six months of beach soccer action. The event is organised by Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW), in collaboration with Domusbet.tv Catania BS. It is expected to bring together some of the best teams from across the globe, continuing to elevate beach soccer as one of the most exciting and rapidly growing sports in the world.

We are always pleased to host events that draw global attention to our city, and we observe them with great interest. On one hand, the presence of 36 teams coming together for this event is significant in itself; on the other hand, sport represents a powerful tool for redemption – something we hope our youth identify with as a healthier alternative to a lazy and distracted form of growth.
Enrico Trantino, Mayor of Catania
It seems to me that in recent years, Catania has really taken centre stage. I thank all the friends involved in organising this competition. I’m sure that with everyone’s help and the support of our institutions, we will showcase a city that is increasingly attractive in the eyes of the world.”

Sport is one of the crown jewels of our city, thanks to our athletes, our sports clubs, and visionary leaders like Peppe Bosco, whose ability to organise high-level events is always enthusiastically supported by our administration.”
Sergio Parisi, Councillor for Sport, Municipality of Catania

This will be a very demanding tournament, bringing together 36 of the world’s top clubs. Catania has a deep connection with beach soccer, and we are delighted to return here after three years. For an entire week, over a thousand people will have the chance to enjoy the city and its beauty during a tournament that is both popular and highly competitive.”
Gabino Renales, Vice-President, Beach Soccer Worldwide

A big thank you to President Bosco, whose efforts are allowing us to conclude a very important spring and summer season of sport. Our island allows us to focus on outdoor sports for at least eight months a year, and we must continue to work and invest in this area. Catania is a sporting model — not only for the trophies won, but also for its remarkable organisational capability, and this event is further proof of that.”
Enzo Falzone, President of CONI Sicilia

Major competitions like this one are important showcases that must also promote core values — particularly respect for rules, both on and off the field. Rivals on the pitch, friends off it — always with respect as the guiding principle.
Dario Daidone, Deputy, Sicilian Regional Assembly
This event is the cherry on top of a series of activities held in the city and across Sicily. I believe institutions should strongly support sport as a way to properly communicate who we are and what we can offer to the world. This tournament is a great opportunity to promote Catania and invite people to discover our city and this fantastic event.”

We must thank many people for helping us achieve such a goal. Life has changed since COVID, especially economically, as the costs involved are now enormous. I want to thank the Minister for Sport Abodi, Honourable Daidone who worked tirelessly to help us secure essential funding, the Municipality of Catania, CONI and FIGC, our private sponsors, and BSWW.
Giuseppe Bosco, President of Domusbet.tv Catania Beach Soccer
This is my 30th tournament, and the biggest one yet, with teams coming from four different continents.
The enthusiasm of the athletes arriving in Catania is amazing. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have the facilities to host more than 36 teams — even though demand was far greater — but I can guarantee a spectacular show.
Our team for this tournament will be very young, but still ambitious and competitive. Many players have come through our Academy over the years, from Barbagallo to Campagna. Some are currently out on loan, and many have already proven themselves reliable and worthy of a spot in the Rossazzurri squad.
We’ll try to go as far as possible in the tournament, and it would be wonderful if the city of Catania could rally behind these young players who truly deserve support and applause.”

The 2024 edition of the World Winners Cup, held in Alghero, saw Falfala KQ BSC claim the prestigious title, defeating Rosh Haayin BSC who finished as runners-up, while TMS FC secured third place. On the women’s side, São Pedro BS triumphed as the champions, with Higicontrol Melilla and Red Devils Ladies finishing second and third, respectively.
As the 2025 edition in Sicily approaches, the excitement continues to build for the next chapter in the World Winners Cup, with Catania set to host an even greater spectacle of beach soccer action. The stage is set for another unforgettable week, where the best teams from around the world will battle it out for global glory.
