Portuguese Elite Championship kicks off in Sesimbra

There were wins for Braga, Casa Benfica, Sótão and Buarcos in the opening matches


The first phase of the 2022 Elite Beach Soccer Championship began this Sunday with the matches being played at Praia do Ouro in Sesimbra.

In the first meeting of the day, Casa Benfica de Loures took on Leixões, beating them 8-2.

The clash between ACD Sótão and Sporting CP followed, and the Nazarenos, took a surprise victory against the 2020 champions, winning by 9-7.

In the duel between the defending champions, SC Braga, and Varzim SC, Os Guerreiros do Minho came out on top with a 5-1 victory.

The last game of the day between AD Buarcos and São Domingos was a tightly fought bout, but the club from Figueira da Foz prevailed, securing the three points with a 10-8 victory.

In the second round, Leixões will face ACD Sótão, São Domingos are to meet Casa Benfica de Loures, while Varzim will face AD Buarcos. The day also features a huge showdown between the two previous winning SC Braga and Sporting CP, with the Lisbon team looking for their first victory in the competition.
