The men's competition got underway

Portugal win 6-5 against Venezuela.
The first match of the men’s competition saw Portugal face Venezuela.
Venezuela started their campaign in the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup with a great opening period, as goalkeeper Duque scored twice and Perez scored once. Leo Martins scored Portugal’s only goal of the period as the Portuguese side found themselves 3-1 down at the end of the period. Portugal turned the match around in the second period with goals courtesy of Coimbra, Bernardo L., Jordan Santos and Pedro Mano, as Venezuela’s Duque completed his hat-trick. Coimbra extended Portugal’s lead in the third period, before Betancourt pulled a goal back, however, Portugal managed to hold on for a 6-5 victory.
El Salvador win 3-1 against Ukraine on penalties, after 4-4 draw in the match.
Ukraine and El Salvador competed in the final match of the opening day.
The teams were level at 1-1 after 12 minutes, as Zborovskyi scored for Ukraine and Cruz hit the target for El Salvador. Zborovskyi completed his hat-trick in the second period, as Voitok also fired home for Ukraine, and Ruiz found the net for El Salvador. The hosts brought themselves back on level terms in the third period through Quienteros and Cerna, as the match went to extra-time and eventually, penalties. El Salvador completed completed their comeback with a 3-1 win from the spot.
