USA win 7-1 against Costa Rica.
The opening match of the second day of the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup saw USA and Costa Rica look to secure their first wins of the competition.
The first period belonged to the USA as Chronopoulos, Adler and Haimes all hit the target, with the Americans leading 3-0 after the opening 12 minutes in the Beach Sports Stadium. Sunseri-Warp found her name on the scoresheet in the second period as Adler completed her brace, before Mindy scored Costa Rica’s first of the encounter. Morales scored the final goal of the match, capping off a fine display from USA.
El Salvador win 6-5 against Switzerland.
The second women’s match of the day saw the hosts El Salvador take on Switzerland, with both teams clinching victory on the first day of action.
Schenk gave Switzerland the lead in the first period of the match, as her nation found themselves 1-0 up at the end of the opening 12 minutes. Five goals were scored in the second period of the match as Calderon netted a brace for El Salvador and Ramos also found the net for the hosts, and Schärer and Nauer fired home for Switzerland. With the sides level at 3-3 after two periods, it was all to play for at the Beach Sports Stadium as goals from Ramos, Tamacas and Rivera cancelled out strikes from Flury and Küffer, meaning El Salvador secured their second win of the competition.
