The Russians are the only team contest the Spanish dominance after Day 3 in Nazaré
WFC Zvezda is the only team with nine points after the third matchday at the Women’s Euro Winners Cup, and therefore gaining a firm command of Group C. Ivan Kanaev’s side stormed past Poland’s Red Devils Ladies, with a stellar performance from Anna Cherniakova, who scored 5 goals today.
The Russian club stands as the only non-Spanish group leader in the competition, as Madrid CFF and Terrassa sit atop Groups B and A, respectively. The 2019 runners-up from the Spanish capital remain perfect in the competition, just like their Russian antagonists, but have played only two games so far.
Behind the Madrileñas, defending champions Mriya regrouped after their defeat yesterday to earn their first points today, following a tight 3-2 win over New Team Brussels.
In Group A, two newcomers continue the fight for first place: Terrassa, who added three more points with a big win over hosts Os Nazarenos and AD Roquetas, with one game less but two three-points can overcome the Catalan tomorrow in their early-morning game against New Team RCS.
With the same number of points, but one more game played, Marseille sit in third position after inflicting yet another defeat to World Winners Champions Lokrians, who still haven’t managed to bag any points in Nazaré so far.
