Tahiti seal ticket to the World Cup!

The Tiki Toa bend Solomon Islands to claim the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup and secure their place in Paraguay

Tahiti kept their throne at the OFC Beach Soccer panorama following a tight win over the other big guns in the region, Solomon Islands, and secured a place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019.

The Polynesian succeeded in a game that was a contested battle all throughout, with one single goal deciding the title.

After no team scored in the first minutes, Allen Farobo swept the Bilikiki ahead, but Patrick Tepa and Heiarii Tavanae quickly replied to turn things around for the Tiki Toa heading into last period.

Tavanae hit again to widen the gap for Tahiti, but McPhilip Aisa would narrow the distance straight away, showing that the Solomon Islands, who had not been back to the World Cup since 2013, wanted to make the most of this opportunity.

Heimanu Taiarui restored the two-goal lead and helped Tahiti see things from a safer distance and, despite Roy Mafane pulled one back for Solomon Islands, the 12 seconds left were not enough to unseat the Polynesian.

The Tiki Toa, then, join Mexico, USA, Senegal, Nigeria, Japan, UAE, Oman, Uruguay, defending World Champions Brazil and hosts Paraguay in the list of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019 participants. The last qualifying stage, the European one, to be held between 19th and 27th of July in Moscow (Russia) will determine the last five contenders at the global showpiece.

New Caledonia seize third!

In the match for the third place, New Caledonia ended up prevailing over Vanuatu after an intense stroke exchange. After the regular time ended with both teams tied at 7, game went onto extra time. Just seconds into the supplementary period, Jeremie Dokunengo scored the winner for New Caledonia with a great volley that went past the Vanuatu goalkeeper.
