Morocco and Senegal secure berth at the World Beach Games!

The Maghrebi and the Lions of Teranga will fight now for the golden medal at the African Beach Games

The National Teams of Morocco and Senegal sealed a historic qualification for the first ever World Beach Games, following their wins over Nigeria and Cape Verde in the semi-finals of the African Beach Games. 

The Lions of the Atlas and the defending African kings will square off tomorrow for the golden medal in the final of the competition, but the first objective is already secured. 

Morocco enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon today, in a day they will not forget. Their solid win over Nigeria, something they have been longing for over the last years, got them write a very relevant page in the history of Moroccan Beach Soccer. 

Two goals in the first period had Morocco take the lead. Nigeria replied as the second period began, but two more goals by the Maghrebi widened the gap and got them closer to their dream. Things would not change much in the third period, as, despite the Sand Eagles tried and tried, El Hadaoui’s side got things under control.

In the second semifinal of the day, the defending African kings left no room for surprise, and upset hosts Cape Verde to seal their ticket to the World Beach Games Qatar 2019 and their place in the final. The 3-0 run in the first period had the Senegalese cruise past the Cape Verdian side, who, despite the defeat, have been one of the biggest sensations in the competition. 

Tomorrow, Senegal will then take on Morocco for yet another African trophy, in a final that will take place at 12:00 pm. Nigeria and Cape Verde, instead, will vie for the bronze medal.
